Theresa Pattery, M.D., Ph.D., is the Medical Director for Global Medical & Scientific Affairs at Janssen Diagnostics (JDx), a division of Janssen Pharmaceutica N.V., one of the companies of the Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson and based in Belgium.
She is a Registered Medical Practitioner who has specialized with a doctoral degree in Viral & Microbial Molecular Genetics from the Free University of Brussels and is working at Johnson & Johnson for the last 15 years.
Her prior clinical experience within hospitals and academic centers ranges from general anesthesia, medical microbiology, microbial pathology and molecular genetics. Her skills and expertise are mainly in the following therapeutic areas for molecular diagnostics: Infectious Diseases such as HIV, HCV, HBV, HPV, Ebola Virus, Viral Respiratory Infections, Bacterial Enteric infections, lung infections, burns care and Oncology-Circulating Tumor Cells and biomarkers for Dx.
She is also the Laboratory Director for the Infectious Disease (BSL3 Lab) & Oncology clinical laboratories at Janssen Dx and is a trained and certified CAP (College of American Pathologists) Inspector.
Her strong analytical skills have allowed her to become an expert in customer/physician interactions, problem solving, process re-engineering and transitioning to compliant IT systems to create a paperless lab, perform large data analysis and ensuring continuous improvement in the laboratory and within medical/clinical affairs.
As a Principal Investigator, she leads the clinical and medical safety needs of laboratory developed tests, in vitro medical devices and diagnostics that require regulatory approvals.
Her optimistic approach and active involvement in the patient and clinical sample pathway process to have the right Dx and Therapeutics, along with her driving passion for patient insight has led her to work on numerous infectious disease and oncology projects with several pharmaceutical and biotech. stakeholders both inside and outside of JNJ.
